A vinegar-forward Carolina-style BBQ dip — apple cider vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, Texas Pete's, and crushed red pepper. Tangy, thin, and made for pulled pork.

The Story

A thin, vinegar-forward Carolina dip — the kind that soaks into pulled pork instead of sitting on top of it. Apple cider vinegar is the base; ketchup and brown sugar round it out. Texas Pete's is the right hot sauce here.

Ingredients

  • 2 cupApple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 cupKetchup
  • 2 TbspLight Brown Sugar
  • 1 TbspHot Sauce (Texas Pete's)
  • 2 TbspCrushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 tspKosher Salt
  • 1 tspBlack Pepper
  • 1 tspWorcestershire Sauce

Pudgy's Notes

This is a dip, not a thick sauce — it's meant to be thin. Pour it over pulled pork or use it as a dipping sauce on the side. Keeps refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.

Instructions

  1. 1

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat.

  2. 2

Stir until the sugar dissolves — about 3–4 minutes. Do not boil.

  3. 3

Remove from heat and let cool completely before using or storing.
