Kielbasa

Whole kielbasa roasted on a sheet pan alongside box scalloped potatoes at 425°F — flipped halfway through, served with peas and Dijon mustard on the side.

The Story

This is one of the easiest meals in the rotation and one of the most satisfying. Three packages of kielbasa go on a foil-lined sheet pan. Two boxes of scalloped potatoes go in a casserole dish, prepared according to the box — let them soak while the oven preheats to 425°F. Both go in at the same time. Flip the kielbasas halfway through. Twenty-five minutes later everything comes out together. The kielbasa gets a little color and a slight char on the outside while the scalloped potatoes do their thing in the casserole dish. Serve with peas. Have Dijon mustard on the table for the kielbasa — it's the right call.

Pudgy's Notes

Both the sheet pan and the casserole dish go in the oven at the same time — they finish together. Flipping the kielbasa halfway through gives it even color on both sides. Any sausage works here in place of kielbasa. Dijon mustard is the right condiment; don't skip it.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 425°F.

  2. 2

Place the kielbasas on a foil-lined sheet pan.

  3. 3

Prepare the scalloped potatoes per the box instructions in a casserole dish. Allow the potatoes to soak while the oven finishes preheating, about 10 minutes.

  4. 4

Place both the sheet pan and the casserole dish in the oven. Cook for 25 minutes, or as directed on the scalloped potato box. Flip the kielbasas halfway through.

  5. 5

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.

  6. 6

Serve with peas. Have Dijon mustard available for the kielbasa.
